STUDENTS’ COUNCIL

The college has an active Students’ Council and it is formed as per the guidelines of the University of Mumbai. The Students’ Council organizes a number of extra-curricular activities providing opportunities for students to portray their talent and develop leadership skills. Students’Council annually organizes Ganesh Utsav and Farewell Party for T.Y. Students. Visit to Orphange, Old Age Home, Paediatric Ward of Tata Memorial Hospital is organized as well.


CULTURAL FORUM

The College has a very vibrant Cultural Forum comprising of students representatives across faculties. The Forum provides a platform for students to exhibit their talents in various fields of fine art, performing art and literary fields. Every year the Cultural Forum organizes Talent Search Week, Talent Parade, MANTRA and the Annual Day. It also encourages and provides support for students to participate in inter collegiate cultural fests.


GYMKHANA

Sportsmanship is promoted through various indoor and outdoor games. The college has facility for games such as Chess, Carrom, Table tennis, Cricket, Badminton, Volley-ball, Karate, Taekwondo and also Athletics. There is a gymnasium for the students and staff. There is also the provision of yoga instructor. Professional coaches are appointed to train the students in various sports. The Ratnam Band was formed during the academic year 2013-2014. The gymkhana committee also organizes tournaments for staff.


LIBRARY COMMITTEE

The Library Committee looks into the book bank scheme and the general development of the library through building its resources. It also celebrates various Days as specified by UN . The most frequent user of library is awarded annually.


NATIONAL SERVICE SCHEME

The NSS unit of our College is very proactive and has carved a name for itself in the University of Mumbai. It was awarded the best NSS Unit in the University of Mumbai during the academic year 13-14 and the same year Mr. Ashok Pujari was also awarded with the Best NSS Programme Officer .It is a lead college in the Central Mumbai Suburb. Our college has also hosted the Leadership Training Programme on behalf of University of Mumbai for the last two years. Every year students of our NSS unit have been selected to represent Mumbai University at Avhaan. Through its numerous activities the NSS Unit has strived to implement the various programmes of the Government f India like, the Swachch Bharat Abhiyaan, Beti Bachao etc.


LIFE LONG LEARNING & EXTENSION UNIT

The LLE unit of the College is yet another dynamic association. Our College has been the lead College for many years. The Convenor of the LLE unit Sr. Akansha Gawde has been appointed as the Field Co-ordinator by the DLLE, University of Mumbai. The unit every year undertakes Industry Oriented Projects, Annapurna Yojana, Career projects, student Manager project and survey of women status.


PLACEMENT CELL

The Placement Cell endeavors to provide employment opportunities to students by organizing career related workshops, pre-placement training, providing information on vacancies and by inviting recruiters on the Campus. TCS, Wipro, Infosys,ICICI Prudential are some of the companies that visit the College for conducting Placement interviews.


RESEARCH COMMITTEE

The objective of the Research Committee is to promote research amongst staff and students. As a result of its endeavors the number of research projects by students at Avishkar, the Research Convention of the University of Mumbai has increased in numbers and improved in content. The research projects and publications by faculty have also grown over the years.


E-CELL

The College has set up an Entrepreneurial Cell to promote entrepreneurial fervor amongst the students. The Cell regularly conducts workshops and seminars inviting successful entrepreneurs to share their success stories. It annually conducts a Start- Up fest for students to give a platform to showcase their business ideas and also provide opportunities with mentors to develop those ideas.


WOMEN DEVELOPMENT CELL

This Women Development Cell of our College conducts workshops and seminars on health and hygiene related to girl students. Dr. Shubhada Dr. Shubhada Gupta, a practicing gynecologist of Bhandup is on the doctor’s panel of the College to provide consultancy on gynecological issues for students and staff. On 22nd Jan.2015 inaugurated the Sanitary Napkin vending machine for the benefit of female students and staff. This initiative was first of its kind by any College in the city of Mumbai.


ALUMNI ASSOCIATION

Over the years the College has strengthened the bond with the Alumni. It has an active alumni association that contributes well to the development of the College by way of being resource persons, mentors, judges, recruiters and organizers. The association also contributes by way of sponsorships for college events, prizes, supporting economically backward students’ studies etc. It annually conducts a musical nite to bring the alumni and current students together.


In addition to the above Committees, the College also has Examination, Discipline, Unfair Means, Attendance, Grievance Redressal, Anti- Ragging and Internal Complaints Committees.
